With 156.50 already raised for the Christmas dinner, community Christmas
tree and relief fund for the winter, Capt. D.G. Coy was hopeful today that the
snow would have the effect of opening the purse-strings of Hickory public and
increasing the total to over $300. He had hoped to Raise $500 before Christmas,
and is confident that the public will respond liberally enough to make the
amount nearly that much.
The Christmas tree will not be held next Monday night, as planned, but on
