Nellie Rhymer Pardoned; Brown and Smith's Sentences Eased, 1922

After having served 12 months of a two-year sentence for violation of prohibition law, Mrs. Nellie Rhymer, Henderson County, was paroled by Governor Morrison on recommendation of Judge Harding, who tried the case, and J.H. Shipman, the solicitor.

In consideration of newly discovered evidence. Gov. Morrison gave a respite of 90 days to T.H. Brown and W.A.L. Smith, convicted in Mecklenburg Superior Court for manufacturing whiskey.
