News of Richmond County Soldiers, Nov. 27, 1918

From the front page of The Rockingham Post-Dispatch, Nov. 27, 1918.

Richmond County Soldiers

Lt. Carl Smith of Camp Gordon came home Sunday on a 10-day’s leave.

Pat Crosland gets the Post-Dispatch in France in the 381st Truck Company.
Another valued Post-Dispatch subscriber is J.P. Little Jr., Flying Cadet, School of Fire, Class 47, Ft. Sill, Okla.

The Richmond county boys who hoped to meet the Kaiser in Berlin will be disappointed that he did not wait for an introduction.

In the Casualty List can be seen the names of Andrew Burrows of Hamlet and Sam Gibson of Rockingham as among the missing.

145 American passenger and merchant vessels and 775 lives were lost during the period of the war through mines, submarines and other agencies of the enemy.

Capt. Nathan W. LeGrand renews his paper from the 85th Infantry, Camp Travis, Texas, and says that training in the Depot Brigade has eased up a bit, and everyone is looking forward to returning home. He thinks possibly he may be back by Christmas and certainly by February.
