Raleigh Book Binders on Strike After Plants Refused to Raise Weekly Salaries to $16 for Women, $30 for Men, April 22, 1919

From the Hickory Daily Record, April 22, 1919

Forty-four book-binders employed by three Raleigh printing plants went on strike this morning after their demand of a wage scale of $16 a week for women and $30 a week for men binders was refused. An offer by the employers to arbitrate the matter is said to have been declined by the binders because of dissatisfaction with the terms suggested.
