YMCA Just Wants to Deliver American Soldiers' Money, May 24, 1919

Y.M.C.A. Wants These Addresses

Atlanta, May 24—The Y.M.C.A. still is working hard to deliver the remaining remittances from American soldiers, entrusted to that service from overseas, because the Y.M.C.A. only furnishes as safe a medium of transmission as could be found, but also gave the service for nothing. In fact, in transmitting $19,538,772.71 from the soldiers to America the “Y” service saved the doughboys fully $60,000, which otherwise would have had to be paid out on money orders.

And the delivery was accurate and prompt saving only in cases where incomplete or incorrect addresses or the disappearance of the payee made it difficult to complete the transaction. Because of such reasons, the Remittance Bureau of the “Y” has been unable to locate 1,229 payees with remittances aggregating about $75,000—less than one-third of one per cent of the total amount handled.

The bureau is now searching for the following payees in this State, which it has been thus far unable to locate for the delivery of remittances.

The service is hunting the following payees in North Carolina to deliver these remittances as fast as possible:
