Glad to See Senate Approve Woman's Suffrage, June 6, 1919

From the Polk County News and Tryon Bee, June 6, 1919

Woman’s Suffrage Passes

Yesterday the famous Susan B. Anthony suffrage amendment passed the United States Senate by a vote of 56 to 25. Thirty-six Republicans voted for and eight against. Twenty Democrats voted for and 17 voted against.

The measure will now be certified to the States for ratification, and if three-fourths ratify the measure, then it becomes a law by an amendment to the Constitution.

This fight has been going on for 45 years, and we are glad to see the women win. Surely if woman is good enough to become mothers then they are good enough to become equal in citizenship with man.
