Mr. and Mrs. Shuford Report N.C. Mountains Teeming With Visitors, Aug. 16, 1919

From The Hickory Daily Record, Aug. 16, 1919

Back From Mountains

Mr. and Mrs. E.L. Shuford have returned from Linville, where they visited their daughter, Mrs. J.W. Bagby. They found the mountains teeming with visitors. A new trip many visitors are making to the highest peak of Grandfather has been opened up by the new railroad to Boone. One gets off at Linville Gap station, and a two mile trail puts one on a peak many feet above the old heights attained from the old climb on the McRae side.
