Enlistment of Colored Men

Greensboro, Aug. 18—Orders received yesterday by Colonel A.V.P. Anderson, in charge of recruiting for the North Carolina district, concerning the discontinuance of enlistments for colored men reads as follows:

--Original enlistments of colored men for infantry will be discontinued at once. Qualified applicants already accepted at general recruiting stations may be enlisted. This does not prohibit the enlistment of men who enlisted prior to April 1, 1917.

--The Provisions of circular No. 355 War Department 1919, discontinuing enlistment of colored men for Calvary are modified to permit the re-enlistment of men enlisting prior to April 1st, 1917.
