Death List Now Totals 160. . . And Property Loss Estimated Between 15 and 20 Millions in Corpus Christi, Texas

Corpus Christi, Texas, Sept. 17—Fifteen additional dead bodies were uncovered today in the debris of the city and this brings the total death rate in this city to 62. The total dead from the storm in this city and surrounding country is 160. This includes Corpus Christi, Port Arransas and and Arransas Pass. The estimate of the number of dead is 250. The bodies recovered today were unidentified since they were almost unrecognizable. A drenching rain storm falling this afternoon greatly interferes with the relief work and adds to the misery of the suffering.

…. It is still impossible to secure a correct estimate of the number of fatalities and the amount of property damage that was incurred. All estimates are mere conjecture.
