Mr. and Mrs. Houck Alright After Car Knocks Their Horse and Buggy Off Embankment at Bridge, Oct. 16, 1919

From The Franklin Times, Louisburg, N.C., Oct. 16, 1919

Came Near Being Serious. . . Only Providence Saved Two Lives When Buggy Was Knocked Off Embarkment

That Mr. and Mrs. Percy Houck are now alive after having been knocked down the embankment on the South end of the Tar River bridge with their horse and buggy by an automobile on Sunday night is an act of Providence. The automobile was driving by Mr. Sam Holmes, who we understand, says that the accident was caused by the bright lights of a car coming towards him, blinding him so that he failed to see the buggy until about the time it was struck.

Fortunately, outside of a few bruises and a pretty bad scare-up, Mr. and Mrs. Houck are all right.
