Why President of Polk County Fair Will Not Attend, Oct. 3, 1919

From the Polk County News and the Tryon Bee, Tryon, N.C., Oct. 3, 1919

By W.T. Lindsey, President, Polk County Fair

I am called to New York as witness to testamentary capacity of the late Mrs. Ferris, whose will is being contested. As this is a jury trial, although set for the 6th inst, the delays of the law are such that I may be disappointed in not getting back to Polk County in time for our County Fair.

I hope that every officer and every one interested in the development of this grand mountain county will aid in making this County Fair a Great success. Come on the 8th and help to get ready, come on the 9th and have a good time and come on the 10th and elect officers for the coming year.
