Plantiff Loses Big Damage Case in Court

The case of D.M. Clark against the Shuford Mill Company, an action for $10,000 for the alleged breaking of his leg, was won by the defendant in Catawba superior court this week.

Mr. Clark contended that as night watchman at the Shuford mill he stumbled into a hole on the platform and broke his leg. It was shown by the defense that he had a diseased leg which had been broken once before and that he had wanted it amputated. The limb was not sound and merely walking on it, the defense contended, was enough to sever it. The leg was amputated. The jury decided that the defendant was in nowise responsible for the affair and awarded a verdict accordingly.
