County Selling Some Property to Build Modern County Home, Jan. 13, 1920

From The Daily Times, Wilson, N.C., Tuesday, January 13, 1920

Will Sell Some of County Home Farm

The County Commissioners have decided to sell some of the County Home farm and believe they will realize sufficient funds for the 68 acres they will dispose of located on the left side of the road on the way to the mill to erect a modern county home, without borrowing any money.

The entire lot of 68 acres located on the east side of the road will be disposed of with the exception of four acres which will be reserved for the side of the County Home. This four acres will give ample space for gardens and potato patches.

The commissioners are finding farming at the home unprofitable. The entire tract consists of 224 acres and the balance on this side of the road will be left for the convicts to work, and raise supplies for the home and the convicts. This will give quite a large farm and all that is necessary in the opinion of the County Fathers.
