Mount Airy Police Chief Resigns to Work For Federal Government, Policeman Resigns to Work at Drug Store. Jan. 8, 1920

Chief of Police Monday Resigns

Mr. G.O. Monday resigned his place as chief of police of this city the first of this month and now has a position with the Government as special field agent. Mr. Monday was offered this place by the Richmond, Va., office several weeks ago and was promised that his field of operations would be here in this section where he would spend most of his time at home.

His work will be mostly in connecting with the braking up of the illegal manufacture of liquor in this part of the country, though he will be subject to special duty in other sections for short periods of time. Mr. Monday has had wide experience in this line of work and was with the Government for several years before becoming chief of police a year ago.

Policeman Joe Snow has resigned from the police force and accepted a position in the store of the Mount Airy Drug Company, where he began his new duties Wednesday.
