One of Biggest Moonshine Raids in Martin County, Jan. 10, 1920

From The Daily Times, Wilson, N.C., January 10, 1920

Record Raid on Blockade Stills

Raleigh, Jan. 10—the capture of 28 illicit stills, arrest of 10 alleged blockaders, destruction of 1,200 gallons of beer, burning of 600 fermentors and the seizure of 25 barrels of molasses in three days represent one of the biggest moonshine raids ever conducted by the revenue forces in North Carolina. The fruits of the raid were garnered in Martin county near Williamston and Darden and, according to the officers, that community is not yet half cleared of stills.
