Rutherford Man is Honorary Home Demonstration Club Member, 1955

The Rutherford County Home Demonstration Clubs are honored to have Mr. D.C. Cole as an honorary member of their organization. Mr. Cole has always supported and encouraged our projects and activities carried on through Home Demonstration clubs on local, county, district and state-wide basis.
Working together, Mr. and Mrs. Cole wrote the words and set them to music for the State Home Demonstration Club Song.
Mr. Cole’s interest lies in improving the quality of music for all in the church, school, and the community. After attending a district music workshop last year, a workshop was held in the county and there are demands for more of a similar nature.
During recent years, the mixed Home Demonstration Chorus was a success due to the constant work of Mr. Cole in keeping the men of the chorus interested and in assisting in local, county, district and state musical programs. He was the first director of the county chorus 25 years ago.
More recently when interest in the chorus again mounted, a daughter of the Coles, Mrs. Jack Krause, was director, but it is now being directed by Mr. Cole again.
A more enthusiastic friend and believer in Home Demonstration Club work cannot be found than Mr. Cole and members consider him a vital part of the work in Rutherford County.
This honor has been bestowed upon Mr. Cole with the official ceremony held at the Annual Chorus and Council Picnic.

Mr. and Mrs. D.C. Cole of Rutherford County won first place in the state and an honorable mention in the nation with their song “God Bless Our Homes.” The 1950 competition was sponsored by the National Home Demonstration Council.
God Bless Our Homes
(to the tune of Finlandia)
God bless our homes throughout this State of ours,
Help us to build, to grow with great ideals;
Give strength to all who lead, who love and strive;
To live our homes and lives above the throng.
Teach us to join our efforts, heartfelt aims
To blend with all the Heavenly choral strains.
God bless our children growing day by day;
In homes where food, and service by our hands
Lead on and on to better, higher ways;
And goals to attain may ever be their aim.
Lead on, Oh God, the women of our State;
And clubs that meet and look to Thee for Grace.
