North Carolina in the 1930 Census


According to North Carolina: a guide to the Old North State, a Federal Writers’ Project book:

In the 1930 census, North Carolina had a population of 3,170,276, of whom 2,234,948 were white, 918,647 were Negro, and 16,579 were Indian. Some 2,360,429 were classified as rural and 809,847 as urban. The population of the largest city (Charlotte) was 82,675.
