Laurel Park Street Car Carries 1,400 to Hendersonville Park, 1914

“1,400 Visit Laurel Park” from the June 4, 1914, issue of the Western Carolina Democrat and French Broad Hustler, Hendersonville, N.C.

Street Car Line Had Record-Breaking Day on Sunday—Many Visit Park

The Laurel Park Street Railway company operated its cars Sunday for the first time during the season and as a result there were in excess of 1,400 fares collected. This was a record-breaking  day as regards the first day’s operations or any day’s business in the month of May. A 40-minute schedule will be maintained and although the company owns two cars and two trailers, it is likely that another car will be purchased in order to accommodate the large number of visitors to the park this summer. There was some bathing Sunday in the park, despite the fact that the mountain water was cool and quite bracing.
