Joseph E. Rascoe Added to Richmond County Roll of Honor, 1918

Roll of Honor

Kenny C. Russell died at Camp Sevier, Nov. 11, 1917

Pressley R. Link, pneumonia, Nogales hospital, Arizona, May 6, 1918

John F. Blalock, killed in action in France, June, 1918

Corporal Willie W. Shankle, killed in action in France July 20, 1918

Joseph E. Rascoe, killed in action Aug. 31, 1918

And still another star is added this week to the Roll of Honor of Richmond county boys who have paid the supreme sacrifice in their duty to their Country. The latest is Joseph E. Rascoe, whose home was four miles west of Osborne and w
ho with his wife lived with Mrs. Ellen Smith. His father, Joseph Rascoe, lives in Bennettsville.
His wife received a wire from the War Department Sept.24th notifying her that her husband had been killed in action in France on August 31dst. No other details as yet are obtainable.

Rascoe was about 24 years old, and was sent to Camp Jackson in one of the first calls last fall, leaving here in the squad of 19 on September 20, 1917.
