Cox Family Loses Only Son in France, Dec. 17, 1918

The entire town and community were shocked Tuesday, December 12^th, when the news reached here of the death of James W. Cox Jr. which occurred somewhere in France Sunday, November 24^th, from influenza. He was the only son of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Cox. Besides his parents he is survived by a sister, Miss Lula Norris Cox. The sympathy of the entire town goes out to the family in their great sorrow. A memorial service will be held in his memory at the Elm City Baptist church Sunday, Dec. 22^nd.
