Memorial for J.W. Cox Jr.

Appropriate and touching memorial exercises in honor of Mr. J.W. Cox Jr., Elm City, who have his life in defense of his country, were held yesterday afternoon in the Baptist church and the neighbors and friends of the young soldier came from far and near to pay their respects to one who has given his all in the defense of his country and that humanity might enjoy the God given blessings of human freedom.

The services were presided over by Rev. W.O. Biggs, pastor of the Baptist church, and the speakers were Professor Aiken, Judge George Connor, Dr. E.G. Moore and Dr. W.W. Moore of Fort Worth, Texas, who paid high tribute to the cause for which he died and the splendid qualities of the young man who was beloved by all who knew him.
