Does Anyone Have a Place on Farm for Discharged Soldier? April 8, 1919

From The Daily Times, Wilson, N.C., April 8, 1919

Does Anybody Know a Place for This Soldier?

Raleigh, N.C.—In its work in trying as far as possible to put discharged soldiers in touch with positions on the farm, the Agricultural Extension Service has received many cards and letters from boys who are interested in this line of work.

A letter has been received from a young 25-year-old, native born Tarheel at Camp Jackson, who desired to get connected with some progressive North Carolina farmer who will offer him a chance to grow up in the business. In his letter he states: “I grew up on a 300 acre farm at Brevard, N.C., owned by my grandfather. As I have farmed practically my entire life, and do not take much interest in anything else, I would like to get connected with some progressive North Carolina farmer.” This offers an excellent opportunity for some land owner in the State who wishes an assistant to help him with his place, to secure the services of a good man with practical experience. His letter indicates that he has a good fundamental education and is very much interested in farming. Since his discharge from the army, several weeks ago, he has been doing special work at Camp Jackson, but is now located at Brevard, N.C., where he can be reached by mail. Any farmer who is interested can get in touch with him by writing to the following address: W.W. Hurst, Brevard, N.C.

In this connection it is of interest to know that the Extension service will be glad to hear from any man who desires assistance of this kind on his farm, in order that all applications from discharged soldiers might receive the attention which they deserve.
