Winston-Salem—After spending a day and night as guests of thousands of Winston-Salem citizens, members of the 105th engineers of the famous 30th Division left for demobilization at Camp Jackson. Commanded by Colonel Joseph Hyde Pratt of Chapel Hill and Major George Lyerly of Hickory, the troopers were reviewed during a grand parade by Governor Bickett, Senator Overman and other distinguished visitors.

The parade was followed by brief addresses at Piedmont Park and the decoration of Lieutenant Frederick D. Sills of Cohens, New York, by Colonel Pratt for extraordinary heroism in action on the western front. He was awarded the distinguished service cross of the United States, having already been awarded a similar cross by the British.

Following the review of the troops they were entertained at a picnic dinner, baseball game and other amusements, culminating with a luncheon at Salem and a street dance, while the officers were entertained at a dance at the Twin-City Club. Companies from Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Charlotte and Gastonia, with the supply train from Hickory, were represented in the companies here.
