To Work Among Colored Folk

Sallie Joyner Martin, a teacher in the Colored Blind Institute, Raleigh, will begin work May 19th under the supervision of the Home Demonstration Agent, among the colored people of Franklin. She is well qualified for the work and it is expected she will be of great benefit to the colored people and indirectly to the white people.

It has not been decided whether this work will be limited to three townships, or to one organization effected in each township of the county. Her work will consist of teaching the negroes gardening, the canning of surplus vegetables, food values and disease prevention.

This work will not cost the county anything. It is financed by the North Carolina Extension Department and Dr. McBrayer.
