Let Us Understand One
Another and Differences Will Rapidly Melt Away
High Point today is witnessing an unusual really an
unnecessary condition. Several hundred men are walking the streets because they
feel that they have a right to organize themselves.
On the other hand their former employers (the manufacturers),
or at least a majority of them, are on record as being opposed to employing
union labor.
This states the situation exactly without attempting to
favor either side.
Now as to the result—High Point is the loser and a bad
loser, too. The wheels of industry would not be clogged another day if more of
the brotherly love spirit was displayed and less of indifference. Surely there
is a way. We are, after all, one big family—brothers in a sense—and each
dependent upon one another and whatever we have accomplished in this life has
been due to this indisputable dependency.
So why stay apart, gentlemen—let’s apply the golden rule and
if this is done the wheels of progress will hum merrily on tomorrow and every
inhabitant will be happy and contented and feel like exclaiming “How pleasant
it is to dwell among brethren.”
