Quiet Prevails at
Albemarle. . . Troops Patrol Streets. . . No Trouble Since Yesterday
Albemarle, Sept. 16—With three companies of troops
patrolling the streets last night following the trouble at the mills yesterday
morning, the town is quiet and no further trouble is expected and it is
believed the troops may soon be withdrawn.
The clash occurred at the Wiscassett Mills, where the state
and county authorities clashed with strikers and their sympathizers, when it
was reported that an attempt was made to disarm some of the strikers who were
picketing the mills.
The arrival of the troops met with no opposition and no
further trouble is anticipated.
