Raises $1,712 at One

At Mitchell’s Chapel in Hayesville Township, a colored
Baptist church the congregation responded to a call for help to erect a new
church building with a contribution of $1,712 in cash. This is quite a
creditable showing for the colored population of that particular section and
their actions in this case received the hearty endorsement of their many white
friends. It is stated that a modern commodious building will be begun at an
early date.
