Albert Corpening, Killed July 16, 1918, To Be Buried in Lenoir, Jan. 8, 1921

The remains of Albert Corpening, a member of the 105th engineers, passed through Hickory today from Proven, Belgium, to Lenoir, near where the funeral will be held tomorrow morning. The young man was killed on July 16, 1918, by a bomb dropped from an airplane by the Germans. Mr. Corpening was with the Hickory young men and several of them will go to Lenoir tomorrow to pay a silent tribute to their fallen comrade. Among those who expect to attend the funeral are Capt. G.L. Huffman, Lieuts. Joe Cilley and Laurence and Messrs. Homer Bowles, Carl Brooks, John Marshall and Donald Shuford. (From the Hickory Daily Record, Jan. 8, 1921)
