D.P. Smith, Margie Hammonds Caught at Seaboard Hotel at Hamlet, Feb. 3, 1921

D.P. Smith and Margie Hammonds were caught by Chief Braswell in a room together at the Seaboard hotel at Hamlet Sunday afternoon. Smith was released on putting up a $200 cash bond for his appearance for trial Monday morning. The woman was unable to give bond and was locked up for the night. Monday morning in Recorder’s Court Smith was fined $100 and costs, and the woman being unable to pay a fine was sentenced to jail for a term of 2 months. She was brought to jail at Rockingham Monday and is now serving her sentence.
