Will Newsom Burned to Death in Warsaw Jail Fire, March 12, 1921

Warsaw, N.C., March 12—Will Newsom, with a number of aliases, held on the charge of obtaining goods under false pretenses, was burned to death when fire destroyed the city jail here early today. The police believe the jail was set on fire by Newsome while attempting to burn his way to freedom. The monetary loss was small.
