Although his Oakland automobile was virtually demolished, the driver escaped with slight injuries in the collision with a heavy oil truck of the Texas company near the four mile post on the Salisbury road Tuesday afternoon. The name of the driver was given as McManus, of the Albemarle Motor Car company, Albemarle.
A call came into police headquarters at 1:30 o’clock Tuesday, asking for assistance in transferring a badly injured man to the hospital. Chief Walter B. Orr and Detective D.B. Bradly rushed to the scene. En route they passed a car coming into the city at a great rate of speed. Arriving at the point of the accident, the officers were informed that the man had already been hurried off to the hospital. Persons who saw the accident said he had been badly injured while some thought that he had perhaps been killed.
It developed late in the afternoon, however, that his injuries had been slight and that a physician had attended his injuries at his office.
