Mrs. Charles Hampton

Anna Ell Lee

On April 27th, 1921, God took home to Heaven the spirit of little Anna Ell, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.J. Lee of Lake Toxaway, N.C.

It was hard to part with the little darling, but dear bereaved ones, remember Jesus said, “Suffer Little Children to come unto me, and forbid them not; for such is the Kingdom of Heaven.” Oh, what joy it will be when we meet the little Jewel with other loved ones, in that Home beyond the stars!

M.L.

Melvin Galloway

Melvin Galloway, the six-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Perry Galloway, died Sunday morning at 6 o’clock at the Riverside Sanitarium, where he had been taken for treatment.

The sympathies of the community were unusually touched by the circumstances connected with the little boy’s sickness and death. He was taken to the hospital about two weeks ago and there operated on for appendicitis. A later operation became necessary, and for a while his life was despaired of. Then hope revived as his condition seemed to improve, and a week ago he was thought to have a chance of recovery. But on last Friday he began again to grow worse, and from this relapse he never recovered.

To make the circumstances still more pathetic, the child’s father, about the time of the first operation, became suddenly and seriously ill, and the attention of the family was thus divided between the two patients, one at home, the other at the sanitarium. Mr. Galloway had considerably improved when the sad news of his boy’s death was brought to him.

The funeral services were held at the residence Sunday afternoon at 5 o’clock, conducted by Rev. Dupree, assisted by Rev. A.S. Raper. The remains were laid to rest at the Glazener Cemetery. The funeral was attended by a large number of friends, and the floral offering was beautiful. The pall bearers were C.O. Robinson, D. Scruggs, Clyde Ashworth and Mr. Burriss.
