Lightning Bolt Kills Mrs. Godwin As She Slept Beside Her Husband, June 21, 1921

Mrs. Godwin Killed by Lightning Wednesday. . . Was Asleep Beside Husband When Bolt Struck—Mr. Godwin Severely Shocked

While sleeping beside her husband, Mrs. L.W. Godwin, 60 years old, was struck by lightning in her home, South Dunn, during the electrical storm about 10 o’clock last Wednesday night. The husband was severely shocked by the volt which killed his wife.

Funeral services were conducted from South Dunn Baptist Church Thursday afternoon by Rev. Angus R. McQueen, minister of the Presbyterian church. Interment was made in the Godwin burial ground several miles southeast of town.

Mrs. Godwin is survived by her husband. She was an exceptionally fine woman who had many friends in and around Dunn who are deeply grieved over the tragedy.
