R.W. Maynard, Anson County's "Flying Parson," To Speak June 21, 1921

Lieut. Maynard Will Speak in Wadesboro

Wadesboro, June 19—Lieut. R.W. Maynard, known as the “Flying Parson,” and W.B. Stuart of Charlotte are billed to lecture at the courthouse Monday evening. Lieutentant Maynard is a native of Anson County and has not appeared here since he became famous as a flyer, except once when he hovered in his big plane over the city when en route to a Southern city several hundred miles south of here. His coming is awaited with interest.

From the front page of the Dunn Dispatch, June 21, 1921. the article identified him as R.M. but other articles have listed im as Belvin W Maynard. I don't know which is correct. A photo of Lt. Belvin, Maynard, the Flying parson can be seen online at Lt. Belvin W. Maynard, Flying Parson | On back of photo: "[F… | Flickr
