Reports reached this city that several farmers in this part of the country have lost their plant beds by some person going to the bed and pulling and carrying away the plants. Reports say that this has been done in the Rural Hall section and about Pilot Mountain and other parts of the county. It is a matter of speculation as to why the plants are taken. Some think it was the work of some man who needed plants and simply went and got them where he could. Others take the view that it is more than likely that some body is trying to imitate the methods of Kentucky and destroy the plants to thus reduce the present crop.
