Of Interest to Cattlemen and Tobacco Growers

Those who drink milk are perhaps glad to know that of the 200 cows tested last week for tuberculosis, no traces of disease was found. While we have the dreaded disease in this county in a few herds, it appears that we should locate these herds and entirely eliminate the danger. If this county could be made a free area of this disease, it would aid the sale of our cattle to other counties, and it would increase the use of dairy products at home.

Those wish their cattle inspected will please notify the County Agent.

The organization of the tobacco growers is still gaining ground. We now have above 25 per cent signed up in this county. It will continue to grow for the next few weeks, and indications are that we will go way over the 50 per cent necessary. Farmers are realizing that the system has merit, because it is eternally right.

All realize that a system of merchandising the crop rather than dumping it on the market in three or four months, will reduce speculation, steady the markets, and thereby bring more returns to the individual grower, where it has been needed for the last 25 years. Signing the contract is the only way to put the proposition across.
