Death Angel Took Little Clarence Smith Cooper, July 15, 1921

Death of Little Clarence Smith Cooper

During the night of July 15, 1921, the death angel visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Cooper and bore from them their darling little 23-month-old boy and transplanted him into the great beyond, where he is today basking in the glory land, in company with millions of other little jewels. Clarence was a smart, intelligent, great looking little fellow, and often come in to see me during my sickness. The presence of the little fellow has often cheered and expelled all gloom.

Since his death I have often caught myself listening for the patting of his little feet out on the streets. To know Clarence was to love him. He must have died suddenly; was found dead in bed about 4:30 a.m. This should be a great warning to all of us as friends and parents. Be ready for we know not the hour the death angel will come and call for us.

It was quite a shock to his parents as well as his friends.

The burial took place in Scotland Neck Cemetery Sunday afternoon in the presence of a host of friends and relatives, burial services conducted by Rev. N.E. Coletraine of the M.E. Church. We extend to the broken hearted father and mother our deepest sympathy in this sad hour of bereavement. Realizing that we must bow our heads in humble submission to Him who said, suffer little children to come unto me and forbid them not for of such is the Kingdom of Heaven.
