MRS. ELIZABETH C. STRANGE
Funeral services for Mrs. Eliza Cauthey Stroupe, who died suddenly Tuesday night at her home, 1009 West Fourth street, will be held Wednesday afternoon at 5 o’clock at the residence. Rev. J.F. Crigler, pastor of St. Mark's Lutheran church, will officiate. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Stroupe was taken suddenly ill Tuesday afternoon. She was born in Gaston county having been a resident of Charlotte about 15 years.
She is survived by one son, Thomas Lee Stroupe, and two daughters, Lilly and Fannie Stroupe, all of this city. One sister, Mrs. Jacob Jenkins of Stanley also survives.
(The newspaper very clearly listed her as Elizabeth C. Strange in the headline and then Eliza Cauthey Stroupe in the story. It’s a Strange mistake.)
RUTH E. WRIGHT
Ruth Elizabeth, 9-month-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. I.M. Wright, 9 Union street, died at the home Tuesday.
Funeral services were to have been held at the residence Wednesday afternoon at 4 o’clock.
WILLIAM WHITLEY
William Whitley, 85 years old, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J.F. Rowe, 1010 North Church street, early Wednesday morning after a long illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 o’clock at the graveside.
Mr. Whitley served through the four years of the Civil War in the Confederate army. He was a native of Stanley county, but had lived in Charlotte for a number of years.
One daughter, Mrs. Rowe, and one son, S.A. Whitley of Greensboro, survive.
J.M. MILLER
J.M. Miller died suddenly early Wednesday morning at his room, 41 North Tryon street.
Funeral services will be held at his former home in Morrisville sometime Thursday.
Mr. Miller was 50 years old.
