Haw River, Feb. 14—J.D. Stephens, an operative in a local cotton mill, was killed instantly by a switch engine from Burlington. Stephens, who was known as “Pat” Stephens, was unloading a car of cotton and stepped across to the track on which the engine was operating in an endeavor to reach the platform He is survived by his wife and two children.
