We were made sad March the 26th when the death angel came and took with him our precious father. Green Berry Cope was born November 26, 1848; 45 years ago he was married to Ellen Martin. To this union were born 12 children, seven girls and five boys. One daughter and one son preceded him to the glory world. He was a devoted husband and father, his life was quiet, but an example of uprightness. Just why God called him we do not understand, but we believe he has gone to be with the redeemed on yonder shore. His funeral service was conducted by Rev. J.B. Fitzgerald of Mocksville, after which his body was gently laid to rest in Concord Cemetery March 26, midst a throng of sorrowing relatives and friends, to await the resurrection morn.
