Meredith College to Move From Raleigh to Method, June 1, 1922

Greensboro, an educational center for many years, reached out after Meredith, the Baptist female college at Raleigh, but the trustees gave a vote of thanks for the kindness, and said they would build at Method, near Raleigh.

From the editorial page of The Alamance Gleaner, Graham, N.C., Thursday, June 1, 1922. J.D. Kernodle was editor of the Graham paper. Meredith College was originally located in downtown Raleigh and in 1922 the decision was made to look for a more spacious campus. It chose to move out of Raleigh an into Method, a community west of Raleigh at that time. Today, the Meredith College campus appears in the middle of Raleigh on Hillsborough Street, although not downtown, certainly inside Raleigh. And Method is also part of Raleigh.
