The call of John A. Martin, Cumberland County welfare officer, for boys from 12 to 14 years and for boys and girls from 14 to 16 years to list their names with him if they wish employment has resulted in many applications. On the first day, Monday, about 147 boys from 12 to 14 years applied for jobs, and the older ones ae coming in strong. Mr. Martin says he expects to have well over 200 applications, all told, and while he may not be able to place all, he is finding employment for many. The colored boys, he says, can be placed more easily than the white boys.
