Capt. Alexander Reed Stops In After 20 Years, June 30, 1922

Nervy Skipper Stops Here After 20 Years

Capt. Alexander Reed, formerly of Bertie County but now of New York, who makes a business of piloting yachts south from northern points, was a visitor in the city last week, this being his first trip in 20 years. Capt. Reed is the same man who a few yeas back made the round trip from New York to Miami in a 24-foot power boat, the smallest boat on record to go such a trip. Capt. Reed was in an auxiliary sale yacht 60 feet in length this time, and happened in Elizabeth City because he decided to come thru the Dismal Swamp canal instead of the other way, as he usually goes.
