Concord, July 9—Hoyle Beam, a youth of Kannapolis, died in the Concord hospital this afternoon from injuries received when he was struck by Southern train No. 45 near the passenger station at Kannapolis today. Beam died shortly after reaching the hospital and efforts of physicians proved futile.
According to reports reaching Concord the boy stepped from a freight train, which he had been riding, just as train 45 was passing. He was knocked down suffered injuries in his head, which caused his death, and two broken bones in his right arm. He lived but a few minutes after reaching the hospital.
The deceased was a son of C.W. Beam. He was about 16 years of age, though is exact age could not be learned.
