Atlanta, July 12—Lanier university, acquired last fall by the Ku Klux Klan, will be abandoned on September 1 next, and the educational activities of the klan transferred to the proposed University of America, Edward Young Clark, Imperial Wizard pro tem of the klan announced today.
Mr. Clarke said the faculty at Lanier already had been notified they would be released at the expiration of their contracts this fall, and that the building and land of the University would be sold or leased as soon as possible. Construction of five buildings at the University of America will be started soon, he said, and the place is expected to be ready for operation about September 1, 1923.
