Martinsville, July 29—The Central Drug Store in the Masonic building on the corner of church and Gray streets was damaged by fire and water early yesterday morning. The greater portion of the fire was on the second floor, in the regular meeting hall of the Masons, over the drug store company, which was damaged mostly by water. The fire was discovered about 6 o’clock. No estimates of the damage done by the fire or either by the water could be given, but will not be a large figure, it was said. A meeting was held in the lodge rooms Thursday night, and it is thought that a lighted cigarette was carelessly thrown down and started a slow-burning or smoldering blaze.
