Hawn Home Destroyed by Fire, Aug. 22, 1922

Mr. Craig Hawn’s Home Destroyed

Fire between 11 and 12 o’clock yesterday destroyed the two-story, six-room house and contents of Mr. Craig Hawn at Oyama, not a piece of furniture or garment being saved. Mr. Hawn was in Hickory and Mrs. Hawn and two small children were out gathering apples when the blaze was seen. The loss was between $2,500 and $3000, with a small insurance.

Persons who desire to aid Mr. and Mrs. Hawn, who are worthy people, may contribute cash or articles of furniture. A telephone message to Mr. R.H. Hedrick will put those desirous of aiding in touch with the situation.

Neighbors gathered at the alarm and by hard work saved the barn and granary from the flames.
