Belhaven, Sept. 19—Deputy Marshal J.R. Manning, accompanied by Federal Prohibition Agents W.O. Allen, R.T. Bobbitt, and Policeman W.T. Morgan of the Belhaven police force raided New Lake today, capturing three 50-gallon stills and arresting five men. One thousand gallons of mash and 50 gallons of corn whiskey were destroyed and one automobile and one horse and buggy confiscated.
The following men were arrested: A.L. Dunbar, J.B. Dunbar, Dock Dunbar, Bert Spruill and A.L. Spruill. The men were given a hearing before United States Commissioner George V. Latham and bound over to Federal court under bond of $300 each. The New Lake section is well known for illicit distilling.
