Accident Puts Kinston's Fire Engine Out of Commission, Nov. 12, 1922

Fire Engine Out of Commission

The one fire engine with which the local department is equipped was put out of commission today, and plug pressure was the only resort of the firemen in the event of a blaze. An accident to the motor engine in East Kinston causes the breaking of an axle, and it was impossible to duplicate it. A second pumper was shipped from a northern factory some days ago, and this will probably be here in a day or two. Officials said the water supply was ample, while hydrant pressure has always been fairly good here. A part to replace that broken was ordered by telegraph.
