That the North Carolina authorities propose to enforce the speed limit on the newly opened stretch of concrete road between Stokesland and Ruffin, has already been made clear. The speed limit in North Carolina is 25 miles an hour, and those who feel tempted to “open her up” on the new smooth road will do so at the peril of being arrested and fined. This decision was made clear to motorist who inquired the speed limit of the constable at Pelham for safety’s sake. The authorities of Pelham propose to have officers on the road on Sunday when it is expected to be used most and will endeavor to curb speeding at the outset in order to prevent injury and possibly death. A feature of the new concrete road is that it is built in a continuous piece and unlike so many concrete highways is not joined with asphalt to take care of the expansion and contraction.
